KOI Seminar
This project was a collaboration between the Catholic University Leuven (KUL Tourism Consortium), the Raymond Lemaire International Center for Conservation and ViaVia Tourism Academy with the support of the Flemish Interuniversity Council (VLIR).
The main objective of this project was to discuss – in an international forum – strategies to valorise local cultural heritage, resources for local development (see call for participants). The initiative was sponsored by the Flemish Interuniversity Council (VLIR-UOS) in the context of a scientific development-funding program.
We had a large response from people with very interesting profiles and fascinating case studies. We had chosen a culturally diverse group, with 24 participants from Africa, Asia and Latin-America, with distinct educational backgrounds, architects, archaeologists, Masters in Tourism, etc. Bringing them together provoked a very exciting dialogue and an excellent learning experience.
